Abstract

In this article, we present a methodology for the analysis of the road network elements that are considered to be the most critical in terms of external effects limiting the proper operation of the road network. The aim of the investigation was to estimate the impact of the damage on traffic flows, travel times, congestion, and the accessibility of certain parts of the network. There is currently no operational model for the Budapest area. The created model version is suitable for displaying the current peak road traffic and for presenting the expected impact of the investigated events on each network element. The present research focuses on the examination of systemic external factors
limiting the efficient operation of the road network, such as emergencies occurring as a result of natural disasters.
