A Migration Strategies: South America vs Europe

Comparative Analysis of Ecuador, Colombia, Hungary and Spain

Keywords: migration strategies, Ecuador, Colombia, Hungary, Spain

Abstract

Migration and migration strategy appear on the security agenda of many countries, not only in Europe but also within South America. The issue is quite current because the “South-South” migration is growing; this means that immigrants are seeking new destinations within Latin America, instead of going to the United States or Europe. This new migratory flow has turned traditional sending countries into countries of transit or destination. This study aims to examine and compare migration and migration strategies. The primary sources and available statistics allow the analysis of current trends, migration-related strategies, challenges, as well as that of future scenarios.
