An Overview of the Hungarian Literature of Multi-Domain Operations
Abstract
The study provides a comprehensive overview of the Hungarian literature on multi-domain operations (MDO), with particular emphasis on the concept adopted by NATO in 2023 and its interpretation in Hungary. MDO have not yet officially appeared in Hungarian military thinking. However, the Hungarian National Military Strategy contains several MDO elements, the Joint Doctrine reflects, however, the situation before 2017 and does not contain any relevant information. In Hungarian literature, the concept was introduced by Hegedûs and Hennel (2020), mainly with a theoretical and limited technological focus. In Hungary, the development of MDO capabilities requires structural, technological, and doctrinal reforms, NATO-level integration, and the application of existing scientific results.
