A case report of acute myelomonocytic leukaemia with specific and non-specific cutaneous manifestations
Abstract
The case report describes a 50-year-old female patient who first developed skin lesions on the legs and then on the fore arms progressing over the whole body surface with different morphological characteristics. She was initially suspected with a diagnosis of cutaneous vasculitis, but histopathological examination confirmed the presence of leukemic cell infiltrates in the dermis. Laboratory tests showed leukocytosis, anaemia and thrombocytopaenia, and later Jamshidi biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of acute myelomonocyter leukaemia. Leukaemia cutis is rarely seen prior to the diagnosis of hematological disease, and in the present case report some non-specific and specific cutaneous features of the disease were depicted simultaneously.
