Abstract

The Authors examined the degree of satisfaction and frustration of basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, relatedness) of dermatology outpatients . The study questionnaire were filled out, by 52 dermatology outpatients(22 patients with atopic dermatitis, 30 patients with psoriasis) in the autumn of 2023. In the two patient’s groups, the highest level of satisfaction was found at relatedness, followed by validation of competence and the fulfillment of the need for autonomy. Correlations were found between characteristics of psychological needs and levels of perceived stress, anxiety and depression. The Authors’ results may provide new perspectives in the field of psychoeducation, counseling, and psychotherapy for dermatology patients.
