Abstract

This is a catechetical case study of St. Mary’s School in Limassol, Cyprus, maintained by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart since 1923. Roman Catholic sisters offer school education in an Orthodox country, to predominantly Orthodox students – what are the main features, challenges and particularities of teaching religion in this setting? The answer is sought by analysing the demographical background, the pastoral context, and the personal experience of some religion teachers of the school.
