About a series from the Nyugat Publishing House

Abstract

The publishing house called Nyugat published a series of six volumes containing foreign literature. The series was unique among Hungarian books published between the world wars, because it selected from European and North American pieces of literature, which were regarded as most significant. The content of the books represents the taste of the editor (Mihály Babits) and administrator (Oszkár Gellért) of the journal entitled Nyugat: the short stories of the authors written in literary traditions and of modern themes are interesting and relevant today, too.
