Social Division and Political Parties in the United States
Abstract
The Russo–Ukrainian war has shed new light on understanding the problems of internationalsecurity. It has become more obvious by now that a state’s behaviour in the internationalsystem is heavily influenced by domestic political, economic, and social processes and theirimpact on decision makers. Understandably, a closer link may be observed between increasinginternal political party rivalries and international security. An analysis of domestic processes, especially those of the great powers, which exert the greatest influence on internationalstability, seems reasonable. In the spirit of this logic, the present study examines the internalpolitical processes of the United States and pinpoints the changes in strategy and publicsupport of the two political parties. Finally, the dilemma is identified in connection with futureUS foreign and security policies, which can become uncertain due to changing voters’behaviour, generation change, and internal transformation of the two parties.
