The emergence of the bipolar political party system in the United States

Abstract

The United States of America as one of the major actors in the international system can playdecisive role in shaping international processes. In the international institutions as well as inbilateral relations it may be important for all states to be aware of the sources of Americanconduct. Among the numerous ways of understanding and explaining foreign and securitypolicies one option can be learning about domestic policies via exploring changingrelationship among political parties. The study of emergence of two parties alternating inpower, their relationship to each other and to the society may help to make sound conclusionsabout the foreign and security policy of the United States. The aim of this study is to exploreand present the emergence and evolution of the American political party system up to itsconsolidation in the era of the New Deal.
