The Impact of the Military Application of Artificial Intelligence on Democracies

Abstract

This article is an attempt to summarize how the use of artificial intelligence, including its useprimarily for military purposes, can affect democracy. Since there are various known typesand manifestations of democracy, this fact is considered as the starting point for the study.In the subsequent sections of the article, some U.S. DoD documents are analysed to helpunderstand the relationships between the state, the military, and democracy. In the analysis,of course, special attention is paid to artificial intelligence designed for military purposes.
