Abstract

The frequent events of the history of the 19th and 20th century, the insurgencies in cities, witch usually erupted as a result of social inequalities and sougth to put pressure on theexisting political system. Significant theorists, who were atctive participants in theseoccurrences, summarized and wrote their experiences on the theory of insurgencies. Theyanalyzed in detail the causes of failures and explicated „what one has to do” to achievesuccess. I present in my essay the theory of urban insurgencies by reviewing the works ofthese theorists and I would like to point out that the principles still apply today, since inmany parts of the world slums and „no-go”zones, for various reasons, include the probability, background of urban insurgencies and their possible contact with terrorism.
