The estimated number of the injured and dead after an earthquake – Part 1.

Abstract

The epicentre and strength of earthquakes determine the expected human casualty. If the natural disaster hits a populous area, than a minor quake also can cause numerous wounded and dead person. If the epicentre is far away from built-up area, than maybe the stronger quakes causes no considerable effect. The number of those who are waiting for rescue and the wounded and dead are important information for planning disaster management operations and determine the necessary rescue units. In the article, the authors are inspecting if there is a way to estimate the human casualty during earthquakes.
