Transatlantic ’Super Bowl’
Abstract
NATO’s new summit was held in Brussels, at the new headquarters. The meeting of the top leaders of the NATO countries served three goals: (1) strengthening deterrence and defence; (2) improving security in the Southern region; (3) the continuation of the fight against terrorism. The Summit was stormy, Donald Trump’s „transactional“ diplomacy attracted international media attention from important meeting topics. But in the Declaration, paradoxically, all the proposals prepared were approved. The results in Brussels are about the continuation of NATO policy, the implementation and development of concepts, action plans and programs developed in Wales (2014) and Warsaw (2016). Hungary has announced new contributions, seeking to be a reliable ally. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the results of the summit, to put it in context, to present the topics and problems in a clarified way.
