Characteristics of the terrorist threat of European cities in the period prior to the appearance of the Islamic State

Abstract

Towns and cities create potentially favourable environment for terrorists. Large population, biult-up density, the large number of easily destroyable targets, urban existence, and the advantegeous operational conditions are all appealing for terrorists. Present study examines the characteristics of threat from terrorism in big cities, before the appearance of the Islamic State.
