Capability building of the Hungarian Armed Forces, creation of a modern military

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to showcase the background, progress and elements of the modernization of Hungarian Defence Forces and the Zrínyi Defence and Force Development Program rarely seen by the public in its entirety. Following the introduction of the strategic environment and the military scientific foundations of the Zrínyi Program the paper gives an overview of the capability-based force planning, the structural changes needed to be undertaken in order to facilitate the success of the development program, and the actual developments in the services of the Hungarian Defence Forces.
