Abstract

Cultural anthropology is a branch of social science utilizing methods of theory and knowledge to solve practical social problems; therefore, it is suitable for special research in mission areas. Furthermore, the methods and concept of cultural anthropology makes its use indispensable in mission area, since it can provide access to such information that a soldier is not able to do due to his vocational background. The strength of cultural anthropology roots in field research and an up-to-date database that have been used successfully by the U.S. Army for decades.
