Intelligence Lessons Learned from Operation Unified Protector

Abstract

In 2011, authorized by the UNSCR 1973 the NATO and its temporary allies interfered in Libya in order to protect civilian population. In the Operation lasted 222 days there was a success to halt the terror of Gadhafi’s forces and the rebels finally overthrew the Colonel’s regime after forty years. Despite the victory, the Operation Unified Protector also higlighted some shortcomings and deficiencies in NATO’s equipment and TTP1s. This paper using non classified documents will summarize the lessons learned that worth learning from.
