Abstract
The author of the article deals with the role and space of criminal geography within geographical science, and provides historical overview of the most important schools of criminal geography. Criminal geography not only wants to find the answer whether within a given area or in a given country how big is the number of different types of committed crimes, but also what is behind them. The creation of geographic profile provides huge help to crime detection, because it is one of the most important elements of criminal geography.
