Scientific conference on the sixtieth anniversary of the signature of the NATO SOFA

Abstract

It is already 60 years now that one of the basic documents of the NATO co-operation, namely the agreement on the status of the NATO forces, or as everybody knows it, the NATO SOFA had been signed. From this remarkable occasion, three Hungarian scientific associations supported by the Hungarian Ministry of Defense, have organized a conference on the 24th of May, 2011, at the Zrínyi Miklós National University, where some of the Hungarian experts of the NATO status questions have, in frame of high level and very informative lectures, discussed the causes and the circumstances of the signature of this agreement, analyzing also the strengts and the weaknesses of this sixty-year old docuemnt by picking up some SOFA questions. The conference provided a good opportunity for the  representatives of the international headquarters established in Hungary (NATO MILMED COE, Pápa C-17 Heavy Airlift Wing) to share their experiences with the participants, as well.
