Abstract

The whole world especially the Israelis are following the transition in Middle East with a great interest, especially as regards the impact on their peace treaties with Egypt (1979) and Jordan (1994). The main concern is that Israel’s security depends on ambitious Islamist political forces. Israel also has to face the change in Palestinian priorities and tactics. At a time when Islamist movements are intregrating into mainstream politics, Israel is governed by sometimes belligerent nationalists and religious ideologies. In such environment has Israel to elaborate a new strategy for the region.
