Abstract

After the Cold War for a few years, without worrying about any rivals, the United States’ militarycould enjoy the benefits provided by its assets deployed in space. However, due to the activities of other states and the improvement of ASAT weapons, the advantage of the United States seems to decrease. Thus, after long debates, Washington decided that some structural changes are necessary. Learning the lessons from a previous attempt, the Space Command was reestablished, and simultaneously a new service branch, the Space Force, was established. The formation of the two institutions is still on its way, but the roles and organizational units become gradually visible while supporting ongoing projects and introducing new equipment into service.
