Abstract

The Observations-Puncten (1729) by Ludwig Andreas Khevenhüller (1683-1744) is the first regulation for a regiment dealing also with health care in the Habsburg Monarchy (and in Hungary) after the imperial decree of 16 February 1718. This decree was the beginning of the modern military healthcare system. The work by Khevenhüller includes the explanation of the decree and in the second part of the book he, as a general and the owner of the regiment, presents military medicine from the aspect of the army. He writes about its organisation, tasks, participants, and in the end he describes the field medical instrument kit.
