Use of Regular Military Forces for Counter-Insurgencies. Thoughts on the Examples of Military History
Abstract
The author examines the special situation, when regular armies fight irrregular armed forces, what are wishing to achieve political-social aims by arms. Nowdays, the problems of asymmetric wars are in foreground, because the military devastating ability has grown so great, that a full-scale war is aimless. Nevertheless, in some regions the existing social, ethnic, religious conflicts are the possible source of armed fights, if they could receive the needed outside support, from the regional or global great powers, political forces, able to give it – for their own aims. The author analyses the conditions, what are required for the success of regular forces, under these special circumstances.
