The role of fencing in the preparation of national defense officers

Abstract

Fencing, like most combat sports, was developed from military activities, military preparation, and combat preparations. Military fencing appeared in the early 1800's, and became an official sport for a century, with a milestone dating back to 1914, when the International Fencing Federation (FIE) fixed the rules of fencing. Since then, despite the fact that not in this sport first introduced our athletes in the history of the modern Olympics, fencing has become the most successful Hungarian Olympic sport in a few decades and keeps this title until today.
