Abstract

The industrial accidents involving dangerous substances occurred at dangerous establishments as a result of the generated contaminated fire-water can cause major environment consequences to the surface and ground waters. The authors of this series of articles will analyse and assess the international technical regulations and guidelines used for the planning and establishment of fire-water retention and storage facilities. In the first part of the study - after a short introduction of relevant literature - the authors reviewed the background of the development of international system of rules related to fire-water pollution prevention. In the second part of the study the authors will evaluate the technical and planning measures applied for the fire-water management and retention, and also the internationally accepted procedures used for the calculation of the quantity of fire-water retention facilities.
