Lessons Learnt Derived from Operation „Duna“ (As Observed by the Superiors)

Abstract

Knowing the history of the Czechoslovak events fifty years ago, based on archive materials, in the 2018/1.–2018/2. issues of this review, the Author summarized those basic experiences, which were recorded in „summary reports“ during the operation at late September – early October 1968 by the executive commanders, taking part in the operation at different levels. Following to this, by the order of the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Staff ordered, that based on these observations, the Ministry of Defence, the higher bodies of the General Staff, the Army, Corps and Division Commands summarize those experiences. This job was done during 1969, the essence of which was summarized in two parts. The first is now about to be published by the Author.
