Cyberspace and Science
Abstract
Cyberspace plays a key role in every aspect of the 21st century, whether in economics, politics, culture, or warfare. The relationship between cyber operations and science has become one of the most complex and rapidly evolving interdisciplinary research fields of the 21st century. The institutional recognition of cyberspace as an independent domain of operations – as declared by NATO, among others, in 2016 – has fundamentally changed security policy thinking and created new structures in the field of scientific cooperation as well. Cyber operations no longer require mere technological analysis, but also the analysis of processes embedded in complex social, political, legal, and ethical contexts, which can only be understood through an integrated scientific approach.
