The Beauty and Challenges of the Military Profession – on a birthday
Abstract
In my previous works, I have presented the complex capabilities that the Hungarian Defence Forces need in order to manage the ever-changing security environment. Among these, the human being – the soldier – was positioned at the centre, as the cornerstone of capability development by the Zrínyi 2026 Defence and Armed Forces Development Program, launched in 2017. The soldier is the person who embodies the characteristics of society, who is highly trained, committed to their profession and work, loyal, ready for sacrifice, and a professional who can be relied upon in any situation. Based on these ideas, in this anniversary publication I wish to share some thoughts on the soldier who comes from society and undertakes professional military service, as well as on the values and everyday challenges of the military profession.
