The Importance of Protecting Critical Infrastructure and Critical Information Infrastructure in Supporting the Successful Operations of Contractors
Abstract
One of the basic conditions for successful military operations is the support provided by contractors through various contracts. This may cover transport in various sub-sectors, food, fuel, camp accommodation, and other related services, but also other support areas in addition to logistics services. All of these can be purchased in several ways. For example, in the case of a local procurement, through individual contracts, framework contracts, framework agreements, or with the involvement of a contract integrator. What often escapes the attention of commanders and logistics specialists is the fact that certain infrastructures of contractors and their individual elements can also be part of the critical infrastructure to be protected, or even of the info-communication systems used during their operation. The author’s intention is to draw attention to the importance of this issue through this article.
