The connection between the military events of the Mithridatic Wars and the conditions of terrain

Abstract

With the help of ancient sources, the study analyzes the major battles of the Mithridatic Warsin chronological order, according to the impact of the terrain on the outcome. Through severalexamples it shows that the huge superiority in numbers do not always lead to victory. The lack of scouting related to conditions of terrain, relief and hydrography means a fatal mistakein ancient times too.
