Absztrakt

Jesus's friendship and love stemmed from and conveyed God's unconditional, indiscriminate and active love, demonstrated and required by Jesus towards all, whether it be a friend, a neighbour or an enemy. In this study, I will try to present some aspects of the love taught by Jesus, first by explaining the typical terms used in the New Testament and closely connected to the topic (betairos, philos and plesion), then by indicating the appeal of God's love and its connection with verity through two passages (Matt. 20:12-13a; John 6:37b), finally by construing the parable in John 15:1-17, where I identify three features of Jesus's friendship: giving his life for his friends, sharing the knowledge given to him by the Father, and its social dimension, where the key expression is abiding (menein).
