Absztrakt
In my paper, I shall focus on the Aramaic adaptation of the chapters Ex 1‒15 of the codex called Neofiti 1. Firstly, I give some general information about the codex itself to situate it in its historical and literal context. Then, I will analyse the narrative of the liberation of Israel from Egypt focusing on its translation techniques and didactic attitude, especially where a special reverential manner of speaking about God appears. I will highlight some features and instruments of the targum’s tendency to accentuate the intermediate relations between God’s world and humans, such as, the use of the preposition “before” and the verb “to reveal”, the avoidance of anthropomorphic expressions and the function of different mediators.
