Abstract

The Meditationes vitae Christi (MVC) is among the most influential spiritual works of the late Middle Ages and was once mistakenly attributed to St Bonaventure. The text has survived in multiple versions, in Latin and vernacular languages with numerous extant copies. One of the earliest Italian and illustrated versions is held by the Bibliothèque national de France (BnF, It. 115). The first critical edition of this codex, edited by Diego Dotto, Dávid Falvay, and Antonio Montefusco, was published in 2021 as a result of international collaboration. The volume was presented in Venice in 2022 and in Budapest in 2023. This collection of essays offers annotated and edited versions of selected presentations from the book launch held in Budapest on 18th April 2023 at Sapientia College of Theology.
